she let her fingertips rest delicately on the glass, staring out into the black abyss that surrounded everything.

what once was for her has long been destroyed. but what is there is there. it remains in memories.

strong arms slipped around her waist from behind and tugged her into a light hug. a soft sigh escaped her lips and she leaned forward, resting her cheek on the cold glass.

"do you fear sleep?" he asked.

"no," she said. "i fear what sleep brings."

"you have a lot of nightmares?"

"they're like vultures in my brain," she whispered, her breath fogging up the glass. "circling and circling before rending me to pieces. to pieces." her voice trembled.

"to pieces," he echoed softly. "to pieces."
